  1. Perfect locations and perfect hosts. Loved my time spent there. The room.. PERFECT.

  2. Despite my very late arrival and early departure, which meant that I was unable to properly appreciate the house, views and garden, I was warmly embraced by Chris, as well as other visitors. A warm vibe, great food, clean and comfortable room, engaging conversation; it all felt slightly as if I was leaving without fulfilling the potential of a visit to Koromiko. Highly recommended, but try not to be in a rush!

  3. A totally relaxing place to stay with fantastic views overlooking Wellington . Lots of steps so not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, but for us a good workout! Chris, Chris and Andy were great hosts. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly with lots of interesting conversation along the way whether over a cup of tea or around the communal dinner table. The food was really good too! Our room had a spectacular view to wake up to and we slept brilliantly. Everything was as good as we hoped. Can’t wait to return!

  4. I had the pleasure of staying at this little gem when I visited Wellington in 2015.
I first chose to stay with Kris, be course of the architecture of their “combine harvester”. But having been there I feel like I have a home away from home, when I come to Wellington again. I would love to come back and visit Koromiko Road again, not for the house but for the fantastic people inside the house. I hope you do yourself the favor of visiting this little gem …

  5. I had a great time in Wellington to end my big nz trip. The boys are lovely hosts. They gave me a ride to Womad as well as welcoming me into their home. The Skyroom is fantastic to sleep in with the night lights and morning sunrises. I’m looking forward to coming back to Wellington.

  6. This is a wonderful homestay to partake in. There is a true sense of community and family among the coming and going people. Everybody is interesting, positive, and lovely to be around. The house is a great architectural marvel worth exploring, as well. It is not easy to get to but those who are in good shape should definitely give it a try. It’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever stayed. If I go back to Wellington, I will stay with them again!

  7. It was my second stay. Very happy to met Kris and Andy again, also very happy to met Chris for the first time. The room was clean and comfy, double size bed, 2 sockets (probably more but I’ve only used 2), big windows, study desk, wardrobes pretty much everything you need.
The house has washing machine but I didn’t use it, so you may need to ask Chris if it’s available for guests. Breakfast was beautiful – again, everything you want. I clearly remembered when I was there last year, Andy drove to buy me bread because I said yes when he asked me if I want bread for breakki. Thanks Andy you are so kind, I didn’t mean to be fussy because I thought you may found piece of bread from somewhere in the kitchen… , and other guys who also staying at the house were super friendly even though I wasn’t really in my social mode – sorry about that. It would be easier if you have rental car or cab to take you to the house – I am driving addicted anyway… plenty of off street parking. Don’t forget the stunning view from the backyard also ask Kris to play the unforgettable album by Briar Ross, Waiheke based singer. Enjoy your holiday with Koromiko Homestay ;)

  9. Hi Kris, Chris and Andy, I just wanted to thank you and let you know how much I appreciated my stay with you a few weeks ago. You have a lovely home, and I’m sorry that I did not get to stay longer. Hope everything continues to go well for you.

  10. Many thanks Chris, Kris and Andy for the amazing hospitality. Love both Koromiko and Horopito – we are left with lovely memories.

  11. Dear Chris and Andy, Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and letting us experience the beauty of your home. We will never forget your eclectic interior design, your lush garden of rare plants, the bees buzzing around your rooftop, the stunning views of the city, the tasty soup and perfectly balanced quinoa salad, the homemade wine, and the lovely guests you had staying with you… from Holland and China and Chile and even a young Kiwi orchestra conductor! But most of all will never forget you two… your open heartedness, your corny jokes (we’re still telling people what Beethoven did after he died), Chris’s stories of being extras on movies and travelling the world, Andy’s didgeridoo performance and all of your wonderful discussions of life, the environment, and how we can all live together in peace and acceptance. Thanks again for letting us be a part of your world.

  12. Hi Guys, I stayed with you about 3 years ago in the Sky Room. I was from the UK. Had a great time and the outdoor bath was great fun! See you again in 2019, just putting an itinerary together. Love and Best Wishes, Andrew F xx

  13. Chris was a great host, very welcoming and friendly. His hillside home offered incredible views we will not soon forget. With mostly glass walls our bedroom felt like we were in a treehouse and it was wonderful!

  14. “Not much to say, just great in every way…. great home, great garden, great hot bath, great room with a view, great distance to downtown…. just great for every type of sexual orientation!!!!”

  15. Staying at Koromiko was the highlight of our Wellington visit. Chris and his amazing family welcomed us into their amazing home. Andy’s beautiful garden with outdoor tubs, sunroom views, and late night story swapping with Chris amongst the highlights. Can’t wait to return!

  16. One of the most unique properties I had ever stayed in. The views were amazing if the city. Even though I mostly crashed there after days of exploring, Chris was very helpful and communicative

  17. What an incredible stay I had. Thanks for everything !

  18. A return visit after 4 years was even more enjoyable than before. Despite a small family crisis, nothing disrupted our stay with their great “all hands on deck” attitude meaning everything ran smoothly, from the friendly welcome to the preparation of meals. The view alone makes this one of our favourite places to stay, and the hill is very good for our cardio workout! Getting around is simple enough with a good bus service at the bottom of the hill. A unique place, we love it.

  19. This is not the regular holiday room let, but a real safe space to meet and authentically connect with others. Chris is a wonderful host with a huge heart – I came away after a few days grown as a person.

  20. Amazing views!!!!!
Unfortunately, we missed out on meeting Kris and co. as they were having a wonderful trip down south. We received a friendly welcome from their French Woofer and had some yummy cake together! We were in the sun room which provided us with amazing views perfect to watch from in bed and heated up the room in the day. They had cute little handmade soaps and chocolates placed nicely on our towels which was a nice touch!

  21. Amazing room and wonderful people! Definitely would recommend. The best view of Wellington!

  22. Our stay at Koromiko was one of a kind – gorgeous views and lovely company. We loved seeing Andy’s garden, having breakfast with Chris and being cooked for by Josh! Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back again :) Thanks guys!

  23. Was even better than I had imagined. I loved my room overlooking the city.

  24. Absolutely amazing! Loved it and will be back soon!

  25. The best find of my trip! I call it the rainbow house and it’s really everything and more. Super quirky, artsy and such a vibe. The garden bathtub is out of this world and a MUST DO! I used it at midnight and also at 6 am for a couple hours and timelapsed the sunrise! Such a beautiful gem tucked away in the hillside. The guests were helpful and unique. We made lots of fun memories here and even if it’s just for one night, book it! No issues with Ubers. The stairs are a workout but worth the view. They offer bread and basics in the fridge. I didn’t get a chance to do communal dinners because they were out of town. Can’t wait to come back!!!!

  26. Sven, Andy, and Chris are phenomenal hosts. the other guests they had staying with them were also fantastic and unobtrusive. the location provides a breathtaking view of Wellington. the room I stayed in provided everything I needed. I plan on staying here again in future.

  27. Friendly host and place is very beautiful specially the garden.
    Mehak

  28. This is a wonderful place to stay, a unique house in a beautiful setting with very welcoming and personable hosts. The location away from the city centre is not bad – there are bus stops nearby – and allows for enjoying nature, including the rare parrots resident in the area. The room is comfortable, and the home grown produce is a delightful bonus. Great place to stay if you want to meet locals and other travelers!

  29. Such a quirky house in a primo location – the Sky Room is next level awesome with amazing views over Wellington city, highly recommend! The hosts are very considerate – a social crew, so great for company, but are happy to leave you to your own adventures if that’s what you want. I didn’t get time to try the outdoor baths but will be sure to give them a go next time. What a cool stay, thanks guys!
